G.D. Goenka International School, Bhimtal (Uttarakhand), in collaboration with Experience Japan, proudly hosted "Japan Day" on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at its vibrant campus. This immersive event aimed to provide students with a unique opportunity to engage with and explore the rich tapestry of Japanese language and culture.


Objective of the Event:

The primary objective of Japan Day was to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Japanese culture, language, and the contemporary relationship between Japan and India among the students and staff of G.D. Goenka International School. Through interactive and engaging activities, the event sought to:

  • Introduce fundamental aspects of the Japanese language.

  • Provide hands-on experience with traditional Japanese arts.

  • Educate students about current opportunities and collaborations between Japan and India.

  • Inspire students to consider future academic and career pathways involving the Japanese language.

  • Highlight the broader cognitive and professional benefits of foreign language acquisition for both students and educators.



Event Highlights:

The Experience Japan team visited the G.D. Goenka International School campus and curated a diverse range of activities that captivated the students. Participants were fully immersed in the unique cultural experiences, which included:

  • Japanese Kimono/Yukata Wearing: Students had the delightful opportunity to try on traditional Japanese kimonos, gaining a firsthand appreciation for the elegance and artistry of this iconic attire.

  • Origami Workshop: A highly engaging origami workshop allowed students to learn the intricate art of paper folding, fostering creativity and precision.

  • Quiz on Japan: A stimulating quiz challenged students' knowledge of various aspects of Japanese history, geography, and culture, encouraging active learning and participation.

  • Interactive Session: "Current Scenario of Japan in India": A highly informative session shed light on the burgeoning relationship between Japan and India. Discussions covered significant areas such as Japanese investments in India, the presence of Japanese companies, ongoing government projects, scholarships available for Indian students, and the diverse career opportunities that arise from proficiency in the Japanese language. This session provided valuable insights into the practical relevance of understanding Japan.

  • Faculty Interaction on Language Learning: Mr. Jitender Mehta, President of Experience Japan, conducted a dedicated interactive session with all the faculty members of G.D. Goenka International School. During this session, he eloquently discussed the profound impact of language learning on individuals, encompassing cognitive development, cultural empathy, and career enhancement. He further motivated the faculty to consider learning Japanese as a foreign language, emphasizing its personal and professional advantages.
