Objective of the Event: The primary objective of "Kizuna Katha 2025" was to motivate students across India to explore and learn about the multifaceted relationship between Japan and India, while simultaneously providing a platform to showcase their essay writing skills. This competition aimed to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the cultural, social, and historical ties that bind these two nations.


Event Overview: "Kizuna Katha 2025," the 5th National Level Essay Writing Competition, successfully concluded its online phase on May 10, 2025. Organized by Experience Japan, the event garnered an overwhelming response from students nationwide, inviting them to delve into the unique bond between Japan and India through the art of essay writing. The competition was open to students from Grade 4 to Grade 12, categorized to ensure age-appropriate topics and word limits.


Participation Statistics: The competition witnessed remarkable participation with a total of 1481 students from 151 schools across India submitting their entries. This widespread engagement underscores the growing interest among young minds in understanding international relations and cultural exchange.

Competition Categories and Topics:

Category 1 (Grade 4 - Grade 6):

  • Topic: "जापान और भारत के बारे में मेरी पसंदीदा चीज़: एक दोस्ती की कहानी" / "My Favourite Thing About Japan and India: A Friendship Story"

  • Word Limit: 250 - 350 words


Category 2 (Grade 7 - Grade 9):

  • Topic: "दो दुनियाओं को जोड़ना: जापानी और भारतीय संस्कृति एक दूसरे को कैसे प्रभावित करती हैं" / "Bridging Two Worlds: How Japanese and Indian Culture Influence Each Other"

  • Word Limit: 400 - 500 words


Category 3 (Grade 10 - Grade 12):

  • Topic: "सांस्कृतिक कूटनीति: जापान-भारत संबंधों को मजबूत करने में सॉफ्ट पावर की भूमिका" / "Cultural Diplomacy: The Role of Soft Power in Strengthening Japan-India Ties"

  • Word Limit: 500 - 700 words


Judgment Criteria: Essays were rigorously evaluated by our esteemed jury team based on the following comprehensive criteria:

  • Relevance of the Theme: The essay's connection and significance to the chosen topic.

  • Comprehensiveness: The completeness and detail of the writer's exposition.

  • Originality: The uniqueness, novelty, and authenticity of ideas presented.

  • Insights: The presence of a fresh perspective and a critical view of the subject.

  • Overall Impact: The essay's ability to engage, inform, and resonate with the reader.


Jury Process & Results: Our dedicated jury team undertook a meticulous evaluation process. From the vast pool of 1481 entries, 68 entries from each category were initially shortlisted for the second round of checking. Following further scrutiny, 16 exceptional entries from each category advanced to the final round of checking.
