Experience Japan was delighted to host a special Onigiri making workshop on Sunday, August 3, 2025, in association with the renowned Japanese restaurant, Kuuraku. The event, held at our premises in Sonipat, brought together students from various cities for an immersive and delicious dive into Japanese culture.

The workshop began with a warm opening remark from Mr. Jitender Mehta, President of Experience Japan. He extended a heartfelt welcome to all the guests and expressed gratitude for their presence. To show our appreciation, Mr. Mehta presented a token of love to each of our esteemed guests from Kuuraku.
The workshop was a unique opportunity for our students to go beyond the Japanese language and textbook learning to experience a fundamental aspect of daily life in Japan. Onigiri, a quintessential Japanese food, holds a special place in the country's culinary landscape. Often called a "rice ball," it's a simple yet versatile dish of cooked rice pressed into various shapes, often with a savory filling and wrapped in nori seaweed. It's a staple in bento boxes, a popular convenience store item, and a beloved homemade snack.
We were honored to have Ms. Karin, a talented and experienced chef from Kuuraku, and her dedicated team lead the workshop. They expertly guided our students through the process, sharing techniques for shaping the rice and preparing a variety of traditional fillings. The hands-on session was filled with laughter and learning as students crafted their own personalized Onigiri, from classic salmon to tangy pickled plum. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the moment everyone got to taste the delicious creations they had made themselves.
This event would not have been possible without the support of Mr. Hirohama, the Director of Kuuraku. We extend our sincerest gratitude to him for arranging this wonderful workshop, providing our students with an authentic and memorable experience. The partnership with Kuuraku, widely regarded as the best Japanese restaurant, underscores our commitment to offering our students a rich and comprehensive understanding of Japan.
The successful workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Jitender Mehta, who reiterated the importance of such cultural exchange programs. Events like these are integral to our mission at Experience Japan. They provide a tangible connection to the culture behind the language, fostering a deeper appreciation and passion for all things Japanese. We look forward to more such collaborations in the future, continuing to explore the vibrant and diverse facets of Japan with our growing community of students. Experience Japan
