The prestigious exhibition was successfully hosted at the World University of Design (WUD), Sonipat, from November 14 to November 20, 2025, attracting educators, artists, and students eager to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Japanese Culture and Japanese Art. The event served as a vibrant testament to the creative synergy between India's youthful talent and the timeless elegance of Japan.

A Landmark National Art Competition - Japan On Canvas

Japan On Canvas, launched in 2013, has established itself as India’s foremost National Art Competition celebrating Japanese aesthetics. The 11th edition in 2025 garnered an unprecedented level of participation, receiving a staggering 4,879 entries from 206 schools spanning every corner of India. This massive turnout underscores the growing interest among Indian Students in exploring global cultures through art. The exhibition showcased the Top 33 shortlisted artworks, meticulously curated from the thousands of submissions, each offering a unique perspective on themes like Japanese Architecture, traditional Art-forms, the majestic Mount Fuji, and the delicate beauty of Sakura.


Distinguished Presence Graces the Inauguration

The inauguration ceremony was elevated by the presence of several esteemed guests, whose support for the arts and education was deeply appreciated by the Experience Japan team. Their patronage highlighted the significance of the Japan On Canvas 2025 initiative in fostering cross-cultural understanding:

Hundreds of visitors continued to explore the Japan On Canvas 2025 exhibition throughout the week, appreciating the depth, creativity, and technical skill displayed by the young artists. The artworks, rich in detail and cultural resonance, provided a compelling visual narrative that was unanimously lauded.

Witnessing these exceptional artworks provides invaluable inspiration, fostering a deeper understanding of artistic expression and the themes of Mount Fuji and Sakura.


  • Jankidas Kapur Public School: We extend our thanks to Jankidas Kapur Public School for their enthusiastic participation. The school principal's foresight in prioritizing exposure to national-level art achievements, such as those exhibited in the 11th Edition of Japan On Canvas, reinforces the importance of visual literacy and creative confidence among the youth.
