Pan-India: As part of the prestigious Japan Month Celebration in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan, non-profit organization Experience Japan successfully concluded another edition of its flagship ‘Sakura – Basic Introductory Course’ in Japanese Language.

Held virtually from 7 September to 11 September 2026, the five-day intensive workshop brought together learners from across India to take their foundational first steps into the Japanese language and culture. In alignment with Experience Japan’s mission to foster mutual cultural understanding and accessible education, the course was offered at NO COURSE FEE.

High Enthusiasm Across India: 67 Selected Participants

Following the announcement of the course, Experience Japan received hundreds of applications nationwide. Due to the program’s intensive and participation-heavy format, admission was kept selective to ensure individual mentorship.

A total of 67 promising applicants were confirmed and enrolled. To maximize learning outcomes and cater effectively to different learning paces, the cohort was split into two focused groups:

  • Group 1 (Junior Batch – Under 13 years): Designed with interactive, engaging, and activity-driven methods tailored for young learners.

  • Group 2 (Senior Batch – Above 13 years & Adults): Focused on structured linguistic fundamentals, conversational nuance, and cultural immersion.

Classes were conducted live on Google Meet every evening between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM IST (1 hour dedicated to each batch daily), maintaining high engagement, live pronunciation drills, and active Q&A interactions.

Sakura Japanese Language Course - Comprehensive Curriculum: Beyond Just Language

The Sakura Course is one of Experience Japan's most sought-after programs, having already introduced thousands of students across India and abroad to the Japanese linguistic world. Designed as a comprehensive, modular starter package, the curriculum covered:

  1. Daily Routine Conversations: Practical greetings (Aisatsu), everyday expressions, and real-life situational speaking practice.

  2. Linguistic Foundations: The structural flow of Japanese grammar, sentence patterns, and an introduction to Japanese writing systems (Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji overview).

  3. Cultural Immersion: Insights into Japanese social etiquette, lifestyle, core values, traditional and contemporary beliefs, and cross-cultural appreciation.

Interactive Virtual Classrooms

Unlike typical lecture-style webinars, every session demanded active vocal participation from every student. The virtual classroom was filled with enthusiasm, mutual encouragement, and vibrant discussions.
